Finding free apps in the Windows 8 store isn’t obvious. Here’s what you do.
Hover on the right side of any Windows screen until you see the search icon; it’s a little picture of a magnifying glass. Type “store.” Hover to the right a second time and click “search” to search the store. This time type the kind of app you’re looking for.
We typed ”recipe videos” and found iFoodTV. We also found KhanAcademy, Physics for Kids and the United States Geography Quiz, all free.
To find your new app after it’s installed, hover to the right of the screen and click search. Then type in the name. If you prefer keyboard shortcuts – and we sure do — tap the Windows key and the “C” key to bring up the search icon.
